The Impact of Multimodal Transport on the Efficiency of Tourism Companies An Analytical Study on the Integration of Reservation Systems and Employee Awareness

Abstract
Multimodal transport is one of the modern solutions that contribute to improving the tourist experience and facilitating movement between different destinations using more than one means of transport within a unified reservation. However, this system faces several challenges that hinder its effective implementation within tourism companies, most notably the lack of integration of reservation systems, the difficulty of coordinating flight schedules between different means of transport, and weak infrastructure. Another influential factor is the level of awareness of workers in tourism companies about multimodal transport, as lack of familiarity with the mechanisms of operating this system may lead to weak adoption within tourism companies, increased operational complexities, and high error rates in managing reservations.
This research aims to study the role of multimodal transport in the tourism sector, where the impact of the integration of different means of transport such as airplanes, trains, buses, and ferries on improving the tourist experience and increasing the efficiency of tourism companies is analyzed. Multimodal transport contributes to facilitating movement between tourist destinations, reducing operational costs, and enhancing environmental sustainability by reducing reliance on aviation alone. It also discusses the challenges facing the implementation of this system, such as the lack of integration of reservation systems, the complexity of scheduling, and the lack of awareness among employees in tourism companies.
The study was supported by field data that demonstrates the extent of awareness of companies and employees of this system, as the results showed that companies with employees who are more familiar with multimodal transportation are more able to implement it effectively. Statistical analyses also confirmed the existence of a statistically significant relationship between the level of awareness of employees and the extent to which their companies use this system, indicating the importance of training and awareness in promoting the adoption of this model.
The research concludes that multimodal transportation is the future of the tourism industry, especially with the technological development in reservation systems, and recommends the need to enhance cooperation between tourism and transportation companies, improve infrastructure, and establish unified reservation systems to increase operational efficiency and attract more tourists. Thus, enhancing multimodal transportation can enhance sustainable tourism development and create a more comfortable and organized travel experience for tourists.
