Reviving the Heritage of Beverage in Egypt during the Greek and Roman eras from a Touristic Perspective

Beverages were among the most important elements consumed by humans throughout ancient ages, they were linked to all aspects of religious, economic, cultural and social life. During the Greek and Roman eras, all people in Egypt relied on beverages alongside food, not only at the dining table but throughout the day, also in funeral life.

The beverage types during the Greek and Roman eras were wine and beer, in addition to milk, and juices which were extracted from fruits, consumed fresh or fermented.

According to the importance of food and beverage, they have been listed as one of the most important types of heritage now, many tourism institutions are currently working to revive this type of heritage, which will contribute to the recovery of tourism at the international and local levels. There are many global tourism experiences that have used food and beverage tourism as a form of distinction for the tourist destination, this is represented as one of the aspects of the economics of spending on food and beverages in its tourism sector.

This research aims to shed light on all the different types of beverage that were in Egypt during the Greek and Roman eras, with evidence of some archaeological scenes and murals, moreover briefly highlighting the economics of spending on food and drinks, moreover how a trademark can be created for the Egyptian product, in addition to providing some recommendations to clarify how those beverages can be exploited from a heritage and tourism perspective.
